RC Car Tire and Rim Tips

Bigger Holes
Most touring car rims are designed for a 4mm axle, but all Associated cars use a 8-32 treaded axle that is slightly larger than 4mm. To make the rim fit better on your Associated car, simply use a sharp hobby knife or a small reamer to slightly enlarge the hole so it fits perfectly on the oversized axel. Be careful not to make it to larger or you will get a sloppy fit.

Watch Your Direction
Some tread patterns are directional and are designed to work in a certain direction or rotation. Mount each tire on the rim before gluing. Radial style on road tires and V pattern truck tires are usually directional, so check the sidewall for a small arrow showing the rotation direction.

RTR Premounts Inspection and Reglue
Premounted tires are mass produced, so they do not always get the same amount of care as you might put in to a new set. When using preglued tires check to see that non of the tire pulls away from the rim. If you find loose sections, use a drop of CA to reattach it securely. Running a thin bead of CA around the rim and tire help insure that the tire will stay attached. Make sure the glue fully cures before you drive your car. CA in your eye is not a delightful feeling.
