This
how to tutorial can be done two different ways.
Some of the steps are the same and some are different.
They both involve creating your new scheme on
your computer or drawing it on a piece of paper.
Way
one:
1.
Get a sheet of wax paper or the left backing from
your window masks and lay strips of tape over
the top to make a solid sheet of masking tape.
2. Print your design from your computer or draw
it on the sheet of masking paper. (Use only ink
jet printers. The sheet will jam in a laser printer).
3.
Cut out your design and peel it from the wax paper.
4.
Place the mask inside the body, making sure to
seal the edges
5.
Paint your body and go race.
Way two:
1.
Put your masking tape on the parts of the body
you want masked. Use new tape so the ink won’t
bleed through.
2.
Draw or print your design in black. You may want
to print it twice or use a wide tip marker.
3.
Put the design face up inside the body. You should
be able to see it through the other side of the
body.
4.
Trace the design on the outside of the body with
a sharpie marker. You may want to tape down the
paper so it doesn’t move while you trace
the design.
5.
Cut out that design with a hobby knife. Make sure
not to press so hard that you cut through the
body. Remove the excess tape and then you have
your new mask. (You may notice you also made small
scratches on your body where you cut. They will
not matter once the body is painted, as long as
they are not to deep).
6.
Paint you body as usual and go race.
*
Use Bolink body wash or denatured alcohol to remove
the sharpie marker on the outside of the body.
Some bodies come with a protective film on the
out side and won’t require getting the marker
off, just peel it off.
